Ireland native Shane Lowry notched his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday with a two-shot win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Lowry held off a late run from Bubba Watson while also making an incredible approach shot on the 18th hole. Lowry, ranked 48th in the World Golf Rankings, is a plump 28-year-old Irishman who looks like he’ll be contending in majors for many years to come. With his win at the Bridgestone, Lowry nearly doubled his prize money for the entire ¬†2015 year and earned many key exemptions for a player who didn’t have his PGA tour card before his victory today.

I’ve followed Lowry for the past year and he seems like a humble, down to earth guy who will be a joy to root for in future PGA events.
