Ireland native Shane Lowry notched his first PGA Tour victory on Sunday with a two-shot win at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. Lowry held off a late run from Bubba Watson while also making an incredible approach shot on the 18th hole. Lowry, ranked 48th in the World Golf Rankings, is a plump 28-year-old Irishman who looks like he’ll be contending in majors for many years to come. With his win at the Bridgestone, Lowry nearly doubled his prize money for the entire  2015 year and earned many key exemptions for a player who didn’t have his PGA tour card before his victory today.

I’ve followed Lowry for the past year and he seems like a humble, down to earth guy who will be a joy to root for in future PGA events.
