IndyCar driver Justin Wilson is in a coma and in critical condition after being hit in the head with debris during a crash at Pocono Speedway on Sunday.

After Sage Karam spun out and slammed against the wall, a large piece of debris fell off his car and struck Wilson, who then seemed to lose consciousness immediately after the impact.

The IndyCar Series’ Twitter account sent out a medical update on Wilson as soon as the information was available.
