Whether you’re a soccer fan or not, you have to appreciate an underdog story like Leicester City.
Leicester City’s odds to win the Premier League title were 5,000-1. To put that into perspective, the Minnesota Timberwolves were 5000-1 to win the NBA title at end of January when their record was a putrid 14-35. Put it this way: The lowly Atlanta Braves opened with 100-1 odds to win this year’s World Series…and that just isn’t going to happen.
But defying the laughable odds, Leicester City won their first Premier League title on Monday. Following the amazing feat, their Twitter account tweeted this:

The tweet received thousands of retweets within seconds, and a day later it became the most retweeted sports tweet of all time.

That shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise considering the impact the Premier League has on a global scale, combined with the fact this is perhaps the greatest underdog story of all time.
This is just the latest proof that everybody loves an underdog.
