It’s hard to believe that we are already discussing week 5, but here we are. As a Patriots fan, week 5 and the return of Tom Brady has been all that’s been on my mind. However, let’s start focusing on the quarterbacks that will provide value in your DFS cash lineup for week 5. Remember, these guys should provide three times their value.
Carson Wentz – $6,400
Wentz is coming off an early-season bye week, so he should be nice and rested when he travels to Detroit on Sunday. He’ll face a Lions defense that ranks 31st against the quarterback position. Detroit is giving up almost 272 yards per game through the air. Wentz and the Eagles are averaging just a tick under 31 points per game. I see Wentz putting up solid numbers in this game, while obviously scoring a lot of points. Everyone remembers what Wentz did in week 3 to a poor Steelers secondary, and I expect him to repeat that performance against Detroit.
Eli Manning – $6,000
I’m expecting a bounce back week from Eli in week 5 when he visits Lambeau. It wasn’t a surprise that the Vikings stout defense was able to stifle Eli on Monday Night Football. However, he has a nice matchup against a Packers defense that is ranked 29th against the quarterback. Manning has an arsenal of weapons in his receiving corps and the Giants throw the ball often – Eli is averaging 38 attempts per game so far. 18 fantasy points will get Manning to three times his value, but I see him actually closer to four times his value when all is said and done.
Derek Carr – $6,800
I like both of the quarterbacks in this matchup at basically the same price. However, I favor Carr ever so slightly because he has the benefit of playing at home. This game will be a shootout in my opinion, so either Carr or Pip is a safe play to hit three times their value. The Chargers come into week 5 ranked 28th against the quarterback and also give up 290 yards per game through the air. Carr and the Raiders offense likes to sling the ball around, as he throws the ball 38 times per game. Like I said, this game will be a shootout and Carr should have no problem reaching his fantasy average of 21.7 points.
