Dexter Fowler is St. Louis bound, and boy is he getting paid.

Fowler and the Cardinals agreed to a five-year, $82 million deal on Friday. The contract includes a no-trade clause.

The Cardinals weren’t afraid to throw a ton of cash at Fowler, and it’s for good reason. The 30-year-old center fielder is one of the best leadoff hitters in the game. He hit .276/.393/.447 with 13 homers, and 48 RBI in 125 games for the Chicago Cubs last season.

Adding Fowler means St. Louis can now move the versatile Matt Carpenter to the middle of the lineup and move Randal Grichuk to left field.
