Ex-reliever Brian Wilson hasn’t thrown a pitch in the big leagues since 2014 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but don’t call it a comeback.
Wilson, soon to be 35, apparently spent his last three years reflecting on what he wants to do with his life. “It was kinda good to lay back and figure out what I wanted,” Wilson told Yahoo. “It feels like a new leaf.” It looks like Wilson decided to change up his persona and become a clean-shaven knuckleball pitcher.

“I can already see myself out there,” Wilson said, “throwing up some waffles.”
I’m not much of a Brian Wilson guy. In fact, he’s a major tool bag. But that’s an A+ quote. “Waffles” will be my go-to slang word for knuckleballs from this point on.
Truthfully, I think it would’ve made more sense to be a knuckleball pitcher while having his ridiculous trademark beard. It would’ve added to his already over-the-top persona, but I digress.
Wilson has reportedly thrown for at least two teams in the past couple weeks, so this is a story worth keeping an eye on as we inch closer to the 2017 season.
