Asdrubal Cabrera wanted no part of being caught in a rundown during Thursday’s Mets-Tigers spring training game.

Cabrera was on first base in the bottom of the first inning when Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez tried picking him off. The Mets shortstop got caught napping and found himself stuck in a pickle. Rather than attempt to get out of it or just get tagged, he simply jogged back to the dugout. It was a pretty hilarious move.

Obviously no one should criticize Cabrera for doing that in spring training. Especially since he was dead to rights in the rundown anyway. There’s no reason to bust your ass and risk injury during a rundown in a game that doesn’t matter. Instead, Cabrera stays healthy and gives us all a nice chuckle. Win-win all around.
