Picking the correct winner for NASCAR races can earn you some solid cash.

Unfortunately, those who don’t watch NASCAR and know nothing about it tend to stray away from betting on races. It isn’t an easy task when there are 40 drivers on the track to pick from. That’s why I’m here to help steer you in the right direction (which is left… always turn left).

Take a break from baseball and basketball betting and instead take my advice on Sunday’s NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway.

Sleeper Pick: Ryan Blaney (40:1 odds)

I gasped when I saw Blaney at 40:1 to win this race. He’s starting second and currently holds a seventh-place spot in the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series standings. He’s been one of the more consistent drivers so far this season and all signs point to him having another successful weekend in Texas. The No. 21 car was the fastest of the bunch in a practice session that was disastrous for several of NASCAR’s biggest names. Blaney is a sleeper pick that shouldn’t be slept on.

Value Pick: Clint Bowyer (25:1 odds)

If you’re too scared to pick Blaney (you shouldn’t be) but you’re still looking for value, pick Clint Bowyer. He’s starting right behind Blaney in the third spot and has a history of success at Texas with three top fives and 10 top-10 finishes in his career.

My Pick: Jimmie Johnson (10:1 odds)

If you don’t pay any attention to NASCAR, you probably read this pick and went “ohhhh of COURSE he picked Jimmie Johnson, that guy ALWAYS wins!”. But so far this season it’s been quite the contrary. Johnson enters this weekend’s race having struggled mightily by his standards. All that being said, Johnson usually dominates at Texas Motor Speedway. He holds the series record for most wins (6) and top 5s (14). The seven-time NASCAR champ is due for a win, so I have a really hard time not picking him to take home the hardware Sunday.

Two Safest Picks: Brad Keselowski (6:1 odds) and Kyle Busch (8:1 odds)

These are the guys you pick if you’re too afraid to go a little bold. Brad Keselowski already has two wins this season and isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. As for Kyle Busch, it seems like that guy wins every other week. It’s always hard to bet against these drivers.

Final advice: Don’t be afraid to pick the Field (1000:1 odds)

You might see “1000:1 odds” and panic, but I assure you there are some guys in the Field that could help you earn some serious money this weekend. Some drivers that immediately come to mind are Trevor Bayne, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Aric Almirola, Austin Dillon, and Ty Dillon. I’m not saying these guys are necessarily safe bets, but if you’re willing to throw a little money on them you might reap great rewards. The best advice I can give for NASCAR betting is don’t be scared to go bold. Anything can happen on any given Sunday.
