It’s finally time for what I believe is the most exciting track in the entire NASCAR schedule: Talladega.
Last weekend at Richmond we saw Joey Logano take home the checkered flag. I had him under the “safest picks” category, where you’ll find him again today.
Here are my five picks:
*odds are according to Westgate Sportsbook
Sleeper Pick: Jamie McMurray (40:1)
Once again, McMurray is my sleeper. He finished near the front last weekend, and he’s won at Talladega before. He’s the guy you want to bet on if you feel lucky and want to go for a longshot.
Value Pick: Kurt Busch (25:1)
Kurt Busch has the best average finish of any active driver at Talladega. However, he’s never won there. He’s a solid value pick at 25:1 as this could finally be the time he breaks through and gets a victory.
My Pick: Brad Keselowski (7:1)
Brad Keselowski owns Talladega. It’s really as simple as that. He has four wins at the superspeedway and is set for success again as he starts third.
Two Safest Picks: Joey Logano (6:1) & Dale Earnhardt Jr. (7:1)
Logano won last weekend at Richmond and comes into the weekend with a history of success at Talladega as well. Jr. is retiring at the end of this season and if there’s one track he could get a W at before he calls it quits, it’s Talladega. It’s by far his best track as he’s won there a whopping six times.
