Athletes are heckled by annoying fans constantly. It doesn’t matter who you are. You could be the best player in your sport or have the perfect public image, but you’ll still get heckled on game day.
That was the case for Joey Votto on Monday. It’s likely the case most days for Votto, but this particular exchange luckily was caught on tape.
The heckler got Votto’s attention by saying, “I remember when you used to be good.” The Reds’ former MVP responded with a swift, “I remember when you used to be thin.

Indians fan front row tells Votto he's gonna strike out, Votto said talk to me after the AB, stared at him evry pitch, hits double. #Reds

I don’t know whether the heckler was truly clueless or if he was just trying to get in Votto’s head, but the 33-year-old first baseman is still very good at baseball. I’ll let the stats do the talking.
Votto handled the exchange with the heckler extremely well, but it was the double he hit immediately afterward that put the icing on the cake.
