Getting ready for a must win situation tomorrow night for the Predators, in Smashville. Down 2-0 with Pekka Rinne looking extremely vulnerable, things aren’t looking too good for Preds nation. However, with a game 3 win, this series is 100% back on. In preperation, I’m going to run through who I believe is deserving of making Big B’s annual All-Stanley Cup Final Team… Which consist of a first and second line of players from both Nashville and Pittsburgh. Criteria is based strictly off playoff performance (and I guess how much I like the guys).

2nd Team:

Center: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins.

G: 7, A: 15, PTS: 22, +1.

Wing: Viktor Arvidsson, Nashville Predators.

G: 2, A: 9, PTS: 11, +9.

Wing: Jake Guentzel, Pittsburgh Penguins.

G: 12, A: 7, PTS: 19, +/- 0.

Defense: Roman Josi, Nashville Predators.

G: 5, A: 6, PTS: 11, +1.

Defense: Justin Schultz. Pittsburgh Penguins.

G: 3, A: 8, PTS: 11, +4.

Goalie: Pekka Rinne, Nashville Predators.

W: 12, L: 6, Sv%: .929, GAA: 1.98.

Crosby highlights this team but his teammate Jake Guentzel that has been the surprise of these playoffs this season. Arviddson has had to play big minutes on Nashville’s top line with key players Ryan Johanson and Kevin Fialla out. Josi has been doing Josi things, constantly playing like a top 4 defensman, and it’s been Schultz for Pittsburgh who has taken on the role of replacing Kris Letang. In net, Pekka will win Conn Smythe if Nashville comes back.. but he’s looked atrocious in the first two games of the final.

1st Team:

Center: Evgeni Malkin, Pittsburgh Penguins.

G: 9, A: 17, PTS: 26, +10.

Wing: Filip Forsberg, Nashville Predators.

G: 8, A: 7, PTS: 15, +15.

Wing: Phil Kessel, Pittsburgh Penguins.

G: 7, A: 13, PTS: 20, +13.

Defense: PK Subban, Nashville Predators.

G: 2, A: 9, PTS: 11, +6.

Defense: Ryan Ellis, Nashville Predators.

G: 5, A: 7, PTS: 12, +3.

Goalie: Matt Murray, Pittsburgh Penguins,

W: 5, L: 1, Sv%: .943, GAA: 1.54.

Malkin is leading the playoffs in points as he and his linies, Guentzel and Kessel have been near unstoppable. Forsberg is by far the top offensive threat for Nashville without Johanson.. and he’s doing his best to make all the plays for his team. PK has been the key cog for Nashville along with Josi and Forsberg, but it’s been Ellis doing most of the scoring for the defensman. Matt Murray has been a stone wall since replacing Fleury. Had he not stepped in, I bet you we’re talking about Ottawa instead.
