The Celtics parted ways with a fan favorite on Friday to create cap space for signing coveted free agent Gordon Hayward.

Avery Bradley was sent to the Pistons in exchange for Marcus Morris, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

A 2019 second-round pick also reportedly was sent to Detroit in the deal.

Bradley averaged 16.3 points per game last season and has been a premier defender throughout his career in Boston. It was unlikely he’d re-sign as a free agent after the season considering what the asking price will be come next summer.

As for Morris, he’ll be another solid scorer for the Celtics, but rebounding isn’t his thing. Unfortunately, that’s not ideal for the C’s who were 26th in team rebounding last year.
